Monday letter Sept 27, 2010

General
First of all, I had a wonderful time at my nephew's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and everything from outward appearances looked like it went as planned. My family members all arrived safely and we had a great visit even though it was short. In getting back to the classroom today it also was a blessing to hear that the class handled themselves well for Mrs. Lojewski who substituted for me. I also heard many of you made it to the 11:00 service and that the kids sang well. It sounded like the helicopter for the picture was a real hit also.
We had a fire safety assembly today and the 5th grade are to plan an escape plan for your home. I made it an assignment which is due Friday. A boy and girl will be selected to represent our school on Oct. 16 at the Fireman's Open House and they will get to ride on a fire truck. More information on the open house will come later. Today a special note went home about yearbooks next year. They need to be ordered when the pictures are taken next week.

Work
Friday's memory is Rom. 5:8 on page 15 and 2 Thess. 3:3 on page 17. There will be a spelling test on Friday. They will get their list tomorrow. They need to complete reading Room One for Mrs. Brown today, they will have a quiz on it tomorrow. She will use it for a writing assignment. At this time it looks like there will be a Science test for Chapter 1 on Friday. Next week there will be an English test and a Social Studies test. I don't know what days so check the assignment update blog or your child's assignment book. Thurs Sept. 30 is the last school day of the month and Monthly Memory needs to be complete and the book report is due. They need to be done or turned in by the time I leave school on Thurs.

Sports
There is a change in this weeks soccer schedule. It is as follows:
Monday: 3:15 to 4:30, Tues. 3:15 to 4:30 Wed. 4:15 to 5:30 Thurs. 4:00 to 5:00 also pass out uniforms, check equipment and walk through game procedures.
Volleyball for this week is practice today and Wed. and away games on Tues and Thurs.

Other
Mr. Petzold is have Coffee with the Principal next week Monday Oct. 4th. This is a great opportunity to meet him and hear about the things happening here at Trinity. Here is the information that was in the Trinity Leader:
Coffee with the Principal Meeting!!!
I want to invite any and all parents to a special meeting with me on Monday, October 4th at 8:10am, 2:00pm, or 5:00pm in the lobby. I want to meet with all interested parents for a time of sharing about the school's mission and future direction as well as allowing people to volunteer for leading (or helping) with upcoming events. You will also have a time to ask questions, provide input, and share about the school. It should be fun, informative, and a great way to stay involved in your child's education. Attendance is optional, of course, so don't feel guilty if you can't make it. I plan to have more meetings like this throughout the school year.
I need a few parents who'd be willing to bring some "goodies" to the first meeting. Just let me know if you can provide them. I hope you'll take the time to come!! Thanks!
Mr. Petzold

That is all I have for this week.
In His Service,
Deanna Hollrah
