Monday note 10-4-10

General
Thank you for the positive participation for the Good News Choir singing at church on Sunday. I know that for many of you the 8:00 o'clock service is not your first choice, but we need everyone there so the choir sounds like they practiced for the preceding weeks. We have a tough schedule this year since the Good News Choir has 3 of the early service and only 1 of the late services. Heide receives the dates when her choirs are to sing then she has to select the time. Heide is working with 2 other schools and their choirs which makes scheduling very difficult for her. That is why we ended up with those early times because she is available then and needs to be at another church for a later service. So we need to support Heide in this and just get up early a few more times than we may like to. It also teaches the children the need to do what is necessary to meet a responsibility, we may not like it, but it is the right thing to do. And you did that yesterday - thanks. Pictures are tomorrow, they students can dress better than dress code or wear dress code. They will be given permission to change if they don't want to stay in their "Sunday best" all day. Hopefully you checked out the information about the pictures, there are some different things that can be done this year. I don't really know what they are, but I have been told you have various options. Don't forget to order your yearbook which is separate from the picture order. Mid terms will sent home on Friday. Remember this is letting you how your child is doing, it is not the completed grade for the quarter. Any work listed as missing has 2 weeks to get it turned in or it will be made into an F grade. There will be a slip to sign to indicate that you saw the midterm, you should keep the midterm paper. It is a line by line print out of the grades on fast direct.

Work
Friday's memory is John 15:16 on page 31. Monthly Memory for Oct. are commandments 5,6,7, and 8. This includes the meaning of the commandments. The book report for Oct. will be the book the class is reading for Mrs. Brown - "How to Steal a Dog". I will explain how to do the book report next week Mon. (I forgot to tell them today what the topic was, I will do that tomorrow or Wed.) It is a rough week for tests. Tomorrow - Tues is Science Ch. 1. Wed. is Social Studies - the Introduction. Thurs is English Chapter 1. They should put their graded worksheets for Science and Social Studies back in their homework folder so they are available for review before the tests. In Social Studies they should study their notes and the definition sheets and look over worksheets. Science would be good to look at the worksheets and the checkpoint and some of the book. English would be good to use the review pages in the book. I'll explain that tomorrow. We reviewed for Social Studies today and I gave them some ideas what to study for both Science and Social Studies. We reviewed Science last Friday. Math didn't want to be left out and my class will have a test on Friday and Mr. Anders' class will probably have a test on Wed or Thurs.

Sports
The soccer team has a game today at Utica and an away game at St. John Fraser. The volleyball team has an away game on Tues and the home game against St. Paul Sterling Heights has been cancelled. There will be no practice that day either. The team does have a tournament this weekend. I don't know about practices except the Thurs. one. for either volleyball or soccer.
There are "Trinity" soccer socks available in the school office for $6.

Other
ALL papers except the book report and my classes math test that were turned in up through last week have been graded and sent home today. It took some perseverance but they are done. All grades will be listed on fast direct tonight before I go to bed. I informed everyone if they had something missing and what it was. If it was turned in today or will be turned in tomorrow I will for sure grade it before the midterm. If it is later than that, I can not promise to grade before the midterm. Of course I will grade it but it would still show as missing on the midterm. I think I am missing something, but I don't know what, so hopefully it isn't anything terribly important.

In His Service,
Deanna Hollrah
